UNA RAZA DE LA RIOJA

La oveja chamarita es una raza autóctona de La Rioja, cuya principal concentración censal se encuentra en la sierra de Rioja Baja, en los valles del Cidacos y del Linares.

La característica más importante de la raza es su elevada rusticidad y adaptación a un medio natural pobre en pastos y lluvias. En estas condiciones adversas, ha sido capaz de producir un producto de excepcional calidad: el cordero chamarito.
Los rebaños pastan diariamente en el campo, aprovechando los pastos naturales y haciendo un uso sostenible del medio natural, contribuyendo así a su mantenimiento y conservación.
